Ah, darlings, what better way to kick off another fantastic day in Disney Springs than with a visit to one of my favorite spots, Morimoto Asia. The beautiful setting with its hanging lights, comfy tables, and booths is as inviting as a cozy sanctuary in the bustling heart of Disney. The service is always attentive, and if you’re like the Saucy Queen, you’ll find that sitting at the sushi bar is an absolute treat. Watching the talented chefs work their magic as they prepare each dish with such precision and care truly enhances the whole dining experience.
As with all our royal dining adventures, the Saucy family has visited Morimoto a fair number of times. We’ve had some unforgettable moments, but let’s be real—it’s been a bit hit or miss at times. Still, it’s a place we keep coming back to because, even when things aren’t perfect, there’s always something special about dining here. Let me walk you through our latest October experience.
We started the evening with some drinks, as one does when embarking on a flavorful adventure like this. Now, darlings, you know how much I adore a Lychee Martini. I mean, who doesn’t? This beauty is made with Absolut vodka, lychee liqueur, and house-made lychee concentrate and comes in at a solid $16. If you’re into cocktails that pack a punch without overwhelming your taste buds, this is it. It’s the perfect balance of strong and smooth, and I can honestly say this is one of my favorites at Disney. The service behind the bar always does it justice, and I’m always left with a satisfied smile.
As for the Saucy King, he’s a simple man when it comes to drinks and stuck with his trusty Stella. It may not be as exciting, but hey, when you know what you like, you know what you like!
Onto the food! We started with a few appetizers.
Miso Soup – A bowl of pure comfort. There’s something about the rich, savory broth, the silken tofu, and the touch of scallions that always hits the spot. We went with the bowl version for $13, but the cup at $10 is equally great if you’re looking for a lighter start. The warmth and flavors of this dish are perfect, and it’s a classic for a reason. It’s always a great way to kick off a meal at any Asian restaurant.
Next, we went for the Pork Egg Rolls – with pork, cabbage, and a side of apricot sweet chili sauce for $15. Normally, we would go for veggie spring rolls, but this time, it was all they had on the menu. These egg rolls were crispy, packed with flavor, and the sweet chili sauce gave it a little zing. Although I must admit, I do prefer a veggie option, these were still tasty enough to leave us both satisfied.
Then it was time to indulge in some of Morimoto’s signature dishes. And oh, darlings, these were the highlights of our meal!
Morimoto Spare Ribs – At $18 for the appetizer size (3 ribs) and $35 for the half rack (6 ribs), we went for the smaller option, as we were pacing ourselves. The ribs arrived coated in a sticky, hoisin sweet chili glaze and garnished with fresh cilantro. When I tell you the meat just fell off the bone, I mean it. It was so tender, the sauce was tangy and sweet, and it was the perfect combination of flavors. Honestly, I could have eaten more than just three! But hey, I was pacing myself, trying to leave room for the sushi.
Now, let me tell you about the showstopper—the sushi. It’s what we’ve been coming back for time and time again, and this visit was no different. Fresh, flavorful, and prepared to perfection. We had an array of options, from tuna to salmon, and every bite was an absolute treat. The tuna—oh my word, it’s the best I’ve had in Disney, and I’ll happily say that. It’s light, delicate, and just the right amount of rich. Morimoto’s sushi is always the highlight of the meal and never fails to impress. If you’re a sushi lover, you absolutely cannot skip this when visiting Morimoto.
Now, I’m a firm believer in giving credit where credit is due, but I also need to be honest with my Saucy followers. As I mentioned earlier, Morimoto, Disney Springs has been a bit hit or miss in the past, and although this particular visit was largely enjoyable, there were still a few small things that didn’t wow me enough to bump it up to a perfect 10.
For one, while the food was tasty and satisfying, the experience didn’t quite live up to the level of wow I’ve come to expect from some of the other high-end dining spots around Disney Springs. The service was good, but not as fast-paced as I remember it being during previous visits. We weren’t in a rush, but it did feel like it took a little longer than expected to receive our dishes after we had placed our order.
Another small issue? The price point. Don’t get me wrong, Morimoto, Disney Springs offers quality food, but it’s definitely on the pricier side, which is understandable for the caliber of dishes served. Still, considering we didn’t leave feeling completely amazed or overly impressed, it didn’t feel like the food was truly worth the cost for some dishes.
So, what’s my final verdict, you ask? Well, I’m giving Morimoto a respectable 7/10. I truly enjoyed the meal, and the sushi was as stellar as always, but it didn’t quite hit the magical note that I’ve come to expect from Disney Springs dining spots. If you’re in the area and craving some fantastic sushi and Asian-inspired dishes, I’d absolutely recommend Morimoto, but it might not be a place I rush back to on every visit.
Until next time, darlings.
